Mayor for a day! 17-year-old gets a shot at Rangpur City Corporation’s helm
A rural girl from Nilphamari's Jaldhaka upazila had a full day today. In the end, she was selected to be the symbol of the mayor of the Rangpur City Corporation (RCC). The project formed part of Plan International's "Girls' Take Over" campaign, which is a global initiative designed to empower girls and overcoming the stereotypes which hinder girls from taking leading positions. She was already well-known in certain parts of her upazila for being an activist against child marriage. The day began around 10:30 am on the Rangpur City Corporation Complex in the city.
